Brown Sinks Pomona-Pitzer & Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on West Coast Swing

CLAREMONT, Calif. -- The Brown University women's water polo team rolled to an 8-3 victory over Pomona-Pitzer Colleges and a 12-4 win against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges. Senior Sarah Glick (Bonita, Calif.) led the offense with seven goals and seven assists.

Against the Sagehens, the Bears gained a 2-1 advantage after the first eight minutes and went on to out-score Pomona-Pitzer 2-0 in the second quarter to gain a 4-1 lead at the half. The Bears then tallied four goals in the third and held the Sagehens to just one, and were then held scoreless in the fourth but was able to secure the 8-3 win.

Glick led the game with four goals, three assists and two steals, while senior Lauren Presant (Poway, Calif.) earned three. Also adding a goal was junior Katherine Stanton (Danville, Calif.). Senior Stephanie Laing (Ann Arbor, Mich.) played all 32 minutes in net and picked up 12 saves to lead the defense.

The Bears were hot against CMS as the squad gained a 9-2 lead after the first two quarters. The Bears then outscored Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 2-1 in the third and tallied a marker in the fourth to earn a 12-4 win.

Glick and Presant both scored three goals apiece, while Stanton added two. Also scoring was sophomore Samantha Ryu (Santa Barbara, Calif.), freshman Claudia Ruiz (Sacramento, Calif.), junior Joanna Wohlmuth (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) and freshman Brittany Westerman (Palo Alto, Calif.).  In cage, Laing picked up 15 saves.
