Indiana's Lauren Wyckoff Named March 29 Women's Varsity Western Division Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Lauren Wyckoff (Jr., Los Altos, Calif./Los Altos) contributed 10 goals, eight assists, seven steals and six earned exclusions in a 4-0 weekend for the No. 16-ranked Indiana University Hoosiers at home in the Fluid Five Tournament to earn notice as the March 29 Western Division Player of the Week.
She registered a hat-trick in a 13-1 Western Division victory over Gannon University to open the weekend, while also dishing out three assists and grabbing two steals. Against Mercyhurst College in another Western Division competition, she converted a five-meter penalty shot, along with two assists, two steals adn three earned kick-outs to help the Hoosiers move to 2-0 in the division.
In non-league competition, she tallied pairs of goals, assists and steals in an 8-3 triumph over Wagner College. She earned one five-meter penalty and one kick-out in the contest.
Her best performance of the weekend came against California State University-East Bay, in which her three second period markers helped push the Hoosiers out to a commanding 12-6 halftime lead on the way to a 17-10 victory. The three-goal surge accounted for nearly half of Indiana's scoring in the period as the Hoosier were tied with CSU-East Bay 5-5 after a period of play.
She finished the game with four goals, on assist, a steal and a drawn kick-outto surpass the 100 career goals mark with her first marker of the day at the 3:356 mark in the opening period.
Wyckoff's scoring outburst marked the sixth multi-goal effort in her last nine games.
She leads the Hoosiers with 34 assists and 44 earned kick-outs on the season, to go along with 33 goals and 19 steals.
For her career, she now has 103 goals, 85 assists, 188 points and 78 steals.
She is the second Wyckoff to earn weekly honors from the Collegiate Water Polo Association this year as sister, teammate and Indiana goalie Cassie Wyckoff (So., Los Altos, Calif./Los Altos) picked up the February 15 and March 8 Western Division Defensive Player of the Week awards.
