Michigan's Alex Adamson Named March 8 Women's Varsity Western Division Rookie of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- University of Michigan goalie Alex Adamson (Fr., Coronado, Calif./Coronado) made 20 saves with five assists and four steals in picking up wins over Bucknell University, No. 18 Indiana University and No. 11 Hartwick College to lead the No. 8-ranked Wolverines to the 2010 Elite Eight Tournament title at Indiana and earn the March 8 Women's Varsity Western Division Rookie of the Week award.
A two-time selection as the Western Division Rookie of the Week after previously earning the honor on February 22, she made two saves, three assists and a steal in a 13-7 win over Bucknell, before stopping 11 shots with two steals in a 7-6 semifinal victory voer Indiana.
In the title game against Hartwick, Adamson made seven saves, dished out two assists and collected a steal to key the Wolverines to an 11-8 victory and the Elite Eight Championship.
On the year, she now has 62 saves with 58 goals against, 12 assists and 10 steals in 272 minutes of play over 13 games.
