No. 18 Indiana Turns No. 17 Brown Blue with 9-1 Victory at Elite Eight Tournament

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The No. 18 Indiana University Hoosiers (8-4) came out firing on all cylinders in their home opener against the No. 17 Brown University Bears in the first round of the Elite Eight on Saturday, March 6 at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center, cruising to a 9-1 win. The victory extends the Indiana win streak to seven and sets up a semifinal clash with rival No. 8 University of Michigan.

"We did some really good things out there on both ends," said Indiana head coach Barry King. "It's a performance that we definitely want to build on as we move forward."

Jakie Köhli and Nicole Redder each tallied three goals to lead the unrelenting Indiana attack, which opened the contest with four consecutive goals before the Bears notched their only score at the 4:40 mark in the second quarter. Köhli's trifecta marks the ninth time that she has scored three or more goals in a game this season. The trio of Kelsey Campbell, Hanna Eimstad and Kelly Palmberg each notched one goal for the Hoosiers.

Cassie Wyckoff anchored the Indiana defense in the cage, making ten saves in a complete 32 minutes of action. Wyckoff allowed one goal on 24 shots, while also recording one steal.

Indiana opened the game with first quarter goals from Redder, Campbell, and Eimstad to put the pressure on early. Palmberg extended the lead to four midway through the second period. Following a Brown power play score, Köhli fired in a skip shot to make it 5-1 at the half.

Köhli and Redder scored one goal apiece in the third and fourth quarters, which combined with a stingy Hoosier defense to erase any thoughts of a Bear rally.
