Brown's Stephanie Laing Named March 1 Women's Varsity Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Brown University's Stephanie Laing (Sr., Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) recorded 28 saves to lead the No. 20-nationally ranked Bears to the 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship and earn the March 1 Women's Varsity Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week award.
Playing for the program's second straight ECAC title, Laing was stellar for the Bears turning away eight shots in a 10-9 last second victory over host and No. 17-nationally ranked Princeton University. Earlier in the tournament, she blocked away 12 shots against Wagner College in a 6-2 first round win, before handling eight scoring-attempts in a 9-5 semifinal victory over Marist College.
The award marks her second-consecutive Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week nod as she was recognized for recording 43 saves two weeks ago to earn the February 22 honor.
