Grove City College Falls to Cal State-San Bernardino 13-4

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team opened the 2010 season Thursday evening with a 13-4 setback against Division II California State-San Bernardino.

Senior Amanda Thompson (Erie, Pa./McDowell) fired in two goals for the Wolverines (0-1) while junior Brittany LaPalme (Hollywood, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) and sophomore Chelsea Johnson (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) both scored once. Johnson and junior Lauren Baur (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) both had assists.

In goal, freshman Amanda Johnson (San Luis Obispo, Calif./San Luis Obispo) stopped 10 shots in her collegiate debut.

Grove City returns to action Saturday at the Chapman University Tournament in Orange, Calif.
