Brown's Stephanie Laing Named February 22 Women's Varsity Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Brown University's Stephanie Laing (Sr., Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) made 43 saves to lead the No. 18-nationally ranked Bears to a 3-1 record at the Princeton Invitational and earn the February 22 Women's Varsity Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week award.
She started the weekend by making 12 saves in an 8-2 victory over George Washington University before posting 15 stops in a 15-4 win against Gannon University. Laing added nine saves and an assist in a 14-11 victory over Iona College before wrapping up the Bears' four games with seven saves in a 13-11 loss to host and No. 20-nationally ranked Princeton University.
Overall, she concluded the weekend with a 7.5 goals against average and .589 save percentage as Brown improved to 5-1 on the season. For her career, Laing now has 758 saves, including 63 this season, as she is 19 shy of surpassing Keira Heggie '04 for the all-time record at the institution.
