Maryland's Shannon Simerly Named February 15 Women's Varsity Southern Division Co-Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Shannon Simerly (Sr., Miami, Fla./Gulliver Preparatory School) of the No. 20-nationally ranked University of Maryland women's water polo team poured in six goals last week at the Bucknell Invitational to lead the Terrapins to a 2-1 record and earn a share of the February 15 Women's Varsity Southern Division Player of the Week award.
She tallied two goals in an 11-4 win over Wagner College, tacked on a solo marker in a 9-3 victory over Gannon University and chipped in three scores in a 5-4 loss to Marist College.
Simerly leads the Terps in scoring with 16 goals and has put home at least two scores in five of her team's six games this season.
She shares the February 15 Southern Division Player of the Week award with Kandis Canonica of Bucknell University.
