Villanova Edges George Washington 7-6 at Bucknell Invitational
LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The George Washington University women's water polo team held a one-goal lead through three quarters, but Villanova University used a 3-1 fourth-quarter rally to defeat the Colonials, 7-6, in GW's 2010 season opener at the Bucknell Bison Invitational on th evening of Friday, February 12.
GW (0-1) led 4-3 at halftime and 5-4 entering the fourth quarter, but an experienced Villanova (1-4) team playing its fifth game of the season held a 3-1 edge over the deciding eight minutes for its first win in six tries against the Colonials.
Senior Marissa Stamler and sophomore Megan Walker led the attack with two goals apiece, followed by one apiece from senior Bernadette Karandy and sophomore Allison Peotter.
