Hartwick's Jessica Dorman Named February 8 Women's Varsity Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Hartwick College goalie Jessica Dorman (Jr., Auckland, New Zealand/Diocesan) made 41 saves over four games to earn the February 8 Women's Varsity Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week award and led the No. 13-ranked Hawks to wins over the University of California-San Diego, No. 12 California State University-Northridge, No.  8 San Diego State University and No. 10 Loyola Marymount University at the Triton Invitational.

The award marks the second of the week for Dorman who was named the Northern Division Player of the Week on Monday for factoring in the Hawks victory over two-ranked opponents.

She recorded eight saves against UC-San Diego (10-7 W), 10 versus CSU-Northridge (12-8 W) and eight against San Diego State (12-11 W) to help the Hawks advance to the Triton Invitational title game versus Loyola Marymount.

Against the Lions, she made eight saves as Hartwick fell 12-7 to LMU for the highest finish by a Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) team at the invitational in league history.

Overall, she stopped three penalty shots over the course of the weekend and tacked on four assists with 10 steals as she leads a Hartwick defense which is allowing 9.5 goals per game.

For her career, Dorman added to her school record saves total as she now has 848 stops over a three-year career.  Further, she is on-pace to shatter her school single season saves total of 410 established during the 2008 season.
