University of Michigan Releases All-Decade Team

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- In just nine short seasons as a varsity program, the University of Michigan water polo team has quickly developed a reputation for winning. From the first recruiting class to the latest group of seniors, the Wolverines have put talented players at every position in the pool with enough left over to build the depth needed to claim four Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern Championship titles and eight consecutive CWPA Western Division crowns.

Head coach Matt Anderson, who became the program's second head coach in 2003, picked the seven players that represent the elite of those who have donned the Maize and Blue for the U-M Water Polo All-Decade Team in the latest edition of the M Magazine. The Wolverines' success has not come from just one or two superstars and Anderson said he could easily pick a second and third line-up of players that he would put up against any opponent.

“I’ve been blessed with so many players I would compete with on any given day,” Anderson said. “The one thing that stands out about this group is their competitiveness, not only in games but every day in practice. That is what separates them.”

The players selected have set the standard for generations of Wolverines and helped guide the program into a conference juggernaut and national contender.
