Iona's Joe Przekota Named to 2009 ACWPC All-America Team
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The Przekota family can now claim the honor of All-America status as Iona College two-meter Joe Przekota (Sr., Park Ridge, Ill./St. Patrick's) garnered All-America Honorable Mention as the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) released its 2009 list of All-America honorees. He is the first All-America selection at Iona since his brother Chris received Third Team notice in 2002.
An All-East Second Team selection for his performance in the 2009 Eastern Championship, he ended his Iona career as one of the top goal scorers in school history, leading the Gaels in goals each of his seasons in Maroon & Gold. His 298 goals are the second most in school history, while his single season scoring totals of 91 (2009) and 88 (2008) are the fourth and sixth most in a single season, respectively. This season against Gannon University, Przekota tied the Iona single game scoring record when he scored ten goals against the Golden Knights.
