January 21, 2010

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Five-time national champion (2003-05, 2008-09) California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) earned 94 points to edge out the University of Notre Dame (93 points) and the University of California-Davis (92 points) to rank No 1 in the 2010 Women's National Collegiate Club Preseason Poll. Voted on by head coaches around the country, 26-teams received votes in the first poll of the new season.

The University of Arizona, University of Pennsylvania, University of Michigan, University of California-Los Angeles, University of Utah and University of Texas round out the Top 10 as nine of the 10 teams were ranked in the Top 10 of the final 2009 poll.

Michigan State University, which was 10th in last season's final poll, slips to No. 11 to open the new campaign, while Grand Valley State University, Boston College, University of California-San Diego and University of Florida hold positions No. 12-15.

Dartmouth College and University of Central Florida are tied at No. 16, with California State University-Chico, Texas A&M University and New York University completing the Top 20.
