Brown's Gordon Hood Named Sept. 29 Northern Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Brown University two-meter defender Gordon Hood (So., Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad) scored six goals with an assist, two steals and an ejection drawn to earn the September 29 Northern Division Player of the Week award and lead the Bears to wins over the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (15-7 W) and No. 11 Saint Francis College (9-8 W).
Against MIT on September 25, he tallied three goals and recorded two steals to help the Bears down the Engineers. Versus Saint Francis, he posted a team-high three goals with an ejection drawn and an assist in the Bears' 9-8 upset of the Terriers.
The victory over Saint Francis marked the Terriers first Northern Division regular season loss, excluding the end of season Northern Division Championship, since October 19, 2002 when Harvard downed the Terriers 15-11 at Connecticut College ending a 35 game division regular season win streak by Saint Francis.
Further, it marked St. Francis' first Northern Division loss (championship or regular season) in a league record 40 games dating back to November 2, 2003 when Queens College collared the Terriers' 10-9 in sudden death overtime at Harvard University for the Division Championship.
