Q&A with Penn State Behrend Head Coach Joe Tristan
ERIE, Pa. -- Joe Tristan, head men and women's water polo coach at Penn State Behrend College, took part in a question and answer session earlier this week regarding his team's outlook for the rest of the 2008 men's season and the program's expectations:
What are your
thoughts on your team at this point in your fall season?
I am very happy with the program. I haven't seen this type of team
unity and team work in a couple years and it is a great feeling to
see the team utilize all of its assetts to try and get the
goal.
Who is performing
particularly well for you right now?
Jon Bacon and Matt Pluta are doing a a great job, but the growth of
guys like Kevin Wolak and Keith Meehan have really added to our
offensive and defensive structures.
How does the
conference look this season?
The conference looks very tough. Five teams are ranked in the
National Top 25 polls and the rest are great contenders with the
Top 25. Probably one of the toughest conferences in the last three
years.
What is the
biggest challenge facing your team entering the second half of the
regular season?
Our biggest challenge will be our competition.
What are your
expectations for the end of the season and
championships?
Our goals are simple. Return to the top three at Division III
Easterns and place higher at Southerns. Our program worked very
hard to move from sixth in 2003 to third in 2006. We want to be
back up in the top three and we look forward to the Division III
Championships.
