Michigan State Remains No. 1 in Oct. 8 Men's National Collegiate Club Top 20 Poll

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- For the third consecutive week, Michigan State University remains No. 1 in the nation as the Spartans top the October 8 Men's National Collegiate Club Poll. MSU, which topped second place UCLA by two points in this week's poll, lead a poll which saw two teams crack the Top 20 after being unranked last week and two new teams break into the Top 10.

MSU, which took over the top spot in the September 24 poll, leads a Top 10 in which five teams maintained their rankings from a week ago as No. 2 UCLA, No. 5 Arizona State University, No. 6 University of California-Davis and No. 10 University of Arizona joined the Spartans in holding down their previous slots.

Florida International University moved up one place to third this week, while former No. 3  and No. 1 California Polytechnic State University slipped to fourth.

The biggest changes occurred in the bottom half of the Top 10 as the University of Utah and the University of Pennsylvania both jumped four places to seventh and eighth, respectively, while Grand Valley State University slipped back two places to ninth.

Pennsylvania State University fell back to 11th, while Lindenwood University moved up five places to take over 12th place and Miami University (Ohio) settled into 13th place.

The University of California-Santa Barbara and Yale University were the lone newcomers to the poll as the teams rank 17th and 20th in the poll this week.
