Michigan State Remains No. 1 in Oct. 1 National Collegiate Club Poll

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Michigan State University earned 100 points to be a unanimous No. 1 selection as the October 1 National Collegiate Club Poll was released by the Collegiate Water Polo Associaiton.

The Spartans increased their hold on first place as the University of California, Los Angeles received 95 points this week to open the point gap to five points after Michigan State and the Bruins were separated at 99-to-96 a week ago.

California Polytechnic State University, which was ranked No. 1 until MSU took over the top spot last week, remains third, while Florida International took over sole possession of fourth place after tying with the University of California-Davis last week.

Arizona State University moved up to fifth, UC-Davis slipped to sixth, Grand Valley State University and Miami University (Ohio) remained at seventh and eighth, while Pennsylvania State University moved up two places to 11th and the University of Arizona fell one spot to 10th to round out the Top 10.

The bottom 20 of the poll also experienced dramatic changes as three teams moved into the Top 20 with the University of Michigan (15-Tie), Lindenwood University (17th) and the University of Oregon (19th) joined the nation's elite programs.
