2008 Northern Division Championship Schedule Released

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The Collegiate Water Polo Association has released the amended schedule for the 2008 Northern Division Championship at Massachusetts Institute of Technology on the weekend of November 8-9.

Due to a non-contest between Iona College and Fordham University, the tournament was seeded based on winning percentage among the teams with head-to-head competition breaking all ties. 

Brown University, which finished the regular season 7-0 for a perfect 1.00 winning percentage, earned the No. 1 seed, while Saint Francis College (6-1, .857 winning percentage) garnered the No. 2 seed and Iona College (4-2, .666 winning percentage) received the No. 3 seed.

Harvard University (3-4, .429 winning percentage) and Massacusetts Institute of Technology (3-4, .429 winning percentage) received the No. 4 and 5 seeds with the Crimson earning the higher seed courtesy a 10-9 win over the Engineers on September 18 in Cambridge, Mass.

Fordham University (2-4, .333 winning percentage) took the No. 6 seed, while Queens College (2-5, .288 winning percentage) and Connecticut College (0-7, .000 winning percentage) will being play as the No. 7 and 8 seeds.

Competition begins at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8 when Brown takes on Connecticut in first round action.  Harvard-MIT (10:30 a.m.), Saint Francis-Queens (Noon) and Iona-Fordham (1:30) will also compete in the first round as the winners of the first round games earn one of the four Northern Division bids to the Eastern Championship at the United States Naval Academy on November 21-23.
