Navy's Kyle Wertz Named Nov. 24 Southern Division Rookie of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Kyle Wertz (Fr., San Diego, Calif./Westview) of the United States Naval Academy scored seven goals in three games, including hat-tricks in wins over Iona College (12-11 W) and No. 12 St. Francis College (12-11 W OT SD), at the 2008 Eastern Championship to lead his team to the title and earn the November 24 Southern Division Rookie of the Week award.
The Southern Division Rookie of the Year and the Eastern Championship Outstanding Rookie, he added a goal in the No. 14 Midshipmen's 9-6 championship game victory over No. 13 Princeton University.
It marks Wertz's second Rookie of the Week nod of the season as he will look to pick up his third honor following play at the NCAA National Championship at Stanford University on December 6-7.
