Navy's Brett Rajchel Named Nov. 24 Southern Division Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- United States Naval Academy goalie Brett Rajchel (Jr., Winter Park, Fla./Winter Park) made 37 saves in three games to earn the November 24 Southern Division Player of the Week award and lead the Midshipmen to the 2008 Eastern Championship.
He made 14 saves versus Iona College in a 14-10 win, 13 in a 12-11 sudden death overtime victory against St. Francis College in the semifinals and 10 in a 9-6 championship game win over Princeton University as Navy captured its third consecutive league title and NCAA berth.
The honor marks the first of the season for Rajchel who will lead Navy into the NCAA tournament on December 6-7 at Stanford University as the Midshipmen will take on the MPSF, WWPA and an at-large selection for the national title.
