Bucknell's Amanda Skonezney Named March 9 Southern Division Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Bucknell University's Amanda Skonezney (Fr., Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) scored two goals with four assists and nine steals while winning six sprints to factor in all five of the Bison's games last week and earn the March 9 Southern Division Rookie of the Week award.

Against George Washington University in Southern Division action, she dished out two assists with a pair of steals in an 11-6 victory.  She added three steals with two ejections drawn and three sprint wins on four attempts in a 10-7 loss to No. 19-nationally ranked University of California-San Diego, before chipping in two steals while going three-of-four in sprints in a 9-8 victory over University of the Pacific.

She wrapped up the week in a pair of wins tallying a goal, an assist and a steal in an 10-3 win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges and an 11-9 victory versus California Baptist University.

Ranked fifth on the team in goals (17), assists (11) and points (28) this year with 26 steals, the award marks her second Rookie of the Week honor of the season after earning the January 26 accolade.

One of only three Bison, and the only freshman, to start all 19 games this year, she has won 46-of-76 sprints to rank third on the all-time Bucknell single season list.
