Michigan's Julie Hyrne Named March 2 Western Division Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Julie Hyrne (Sr., Sunnyvale, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) of the University of Michigan scored six goals with one assist, three steals and four kickouts drawn to lead the Wolverines to a 3-1 record at the Elite Six Tournament and earn the March 2 Western Division Player of the Week award.

She made history this week becoming the first Michigan player in program history to record 100 assists, 200 goals and 300 points in a career.  Against Princeton University (12-5 W) and Bucknell University (12-5 W) on March 1, she netted three goals and one assist as her 300th point came in the first and her 200th goal in the fourth quarter versus Bucknell.

In addition, she became just the second player in Michigan history to break 200 goals and 300 points in a career, joining Shana Welch (2004-07), who scored 297 goals and 394 points, in both clubs.

Ironically, Welch is currently an assistant swimming coach at Bucknell, the institution against which Hynre netted her 300th point and 200th goal.

For her career, she currently has 200 goals and 102 assists for 302 points.

Last week, she scored once against Princeton, twice versus Bucknell, one against No. 20 University of Maryland in a 9-8 win and twice in a 9-7 loss to No. 15 Hartwick College as the Wolverines finished the weekend 3-1.
