Bucknell's Valentina Rozas Named March 16 Southern Division Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Bucknell University's Valentina Rozas (Jr., Pico Rivera, Calif./El Rancho) scored 19 goals with seven assists, 12 steals and eight ejections drawn to earn the March 16 Southern Division Player of the Week award and lead the Bison to a 4-2 record against nationally-ranked competition on a West Coast swing.

The award marks Rozas' second nod as the Southern Division Player of the Week this season as she previously earned the honor on January 26.

Against Division III No. 2-ranked Occidental College in a 14-7 win, she scored seven goals to tie the Bucknell single game scoring record and added two assists with three steals.  Overall, she fell one point shy of tying the Bison single-game points record as she finished with nine points against the Tigers.

She added an assist, three ejections drawn and three steals in a 9-6 loss to No. 11 Division I nationally ranked California State University-Northridge, registered three goals, an assist and two steals versus Division III No. 1-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in a 13-9 victory, and netted a goal with two assists and a pair of ejections drawn in an 11-7 loss to Division I No. 13-ranked University of California-Santa Barbara.

In addition, she tallied four goals, two ejections drawn and one steal in a 9-7 win over Division III No. 4-ranked California Lutheran University (9-7 W) and chipped in four goals, an assist and ejection drawn and three steals in a 14-9 victory over Division III No. 9-ranked Chapman University.

She leads the Bison in ejections drawn (62) and goals (61) this year, both the sixth highest total in program history, and stands third in points (78).

For her career, she is seventh on the Bucknell record board with 236 points, including 178 goals to rank fourth in program history.
