No. 15 Hartwick Finishes 4-0 to Top 2009 Elite Six Tournament

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- No. 15 Hartwick College under head coach Alan Huckins entered the weekend ranked No. 2 in the Collegiate Water Polo Association, but exited the 2009 Elite Six Tournament at Bucknell University as the leage front-runner as the Hawks knocked off defending Eastern Champion No. 14 University of Michigan (9-7 W), Princeton University (8-6 W), No. 20 University of Maryland (14-9 W) and Bucknell University (13-9 W).

The Hawks, who advanced to the conference title game the last two years, will most likely move ahead of Michigan for the No. 1 spot in the Collegiate Water Polo Association poll on Wednesday, and could move ahead of the Wolverines in the National Top 20 poll as well.

Michigan concluded the weekend 3-1, falling to Hartwick and stopping Maryland (9-8 W), Bucknell (12-5 W) and Princeton (12-5 W), while Harvard University, Princeton University and Maryland finished 1-2.

The host Bison of Bucknell finished 0-3 for the two-day meeting of six of the Collegiate Water Polo Association's top eight teams from last season.

Box scores from the tournament are available on the Bucknell website here, with scores available on the CWPA site here.
