Penn State University Club Teams to Host Quigley Memorial Tournament to Benefit THON
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Penn State Men's and Women's Water Polo will be hosting an invitational at University Park on December 4-6, 2009. All proceeds from the invitational will benefit THON - the largest student-run philanthropy organization in the world, benefiting the families' cancer victims and cancer research. See http://www.thon.org for more information.
Besides benefitting THON, this invitational is specially being held to honor a dear friend and teammate, Jon Quigley, who recently passed away in a horrible car accident. Jon was such a great friend and teammate, and had a huge love for helping others. Jon had just finished his freshman year at Penn State and loved playing water polo and being part of the team. Jon was an active member of ATLAS THON, which is a group of people who help to raise money for THON. As a club, we believe that the best way to honor Jon and all the contributions he had made, would be to have fun playing water polo, while helping others at the same time. We would greatly appreciate it if you could join us in the celebration of Jon's life by doing something we all love to do-play polo.
All proceeds collected from the invitational will be donated to THON in Quigley's name. There will be separate women's and men's brackets during the tournament.
