Indiana's Kohli & Team Canada Finish Fourth at 2009 World University Games
BLOOMINGTON, Ind.

Köhli (Burnaby, B.C., Canada/Moscrop Secondary)
of the Indiana University women's water polo team concluded play
with Team Canada at the U-19 World University Games in Belgrade,
Serbia with a 3-3 overall record and a fourth place finish after
falling to Russia, 10-8, in the bronze medal game on Saturday.
Team Canada went 2-1 in pool play, with wins against Serbia and
Japan, to advance to the medal round. In the quarterfinals, Team
Canada defeated Australia 10-8 with Köhli playing two minutes
to aid the Canucks. Team Canada clashed with eventual gold medalist
China in the semi-final round and lost 16-7, while Köhli
played nearly 11 minutes of action in the losing effort.
In the bronze medal game, Team Canada fell behind early and trailed
7-2 at halftime. The Canucks tallied four goals in the third period
to rally within two, but Russia held on for the win.
A 2009 Collegiate Water Polo Association All-Western Division second team selection and the division's Rookie of the Year, she started 25 of 36 matches played for the Hoosiers this year with 29 goals and a team-high 37 assists in her freshman season. In addition, she collected 62 steals, including two or more steals in 22 contests, with 13 earned exclusions.
