Utica Announces 2009 Women's Schedule

UTICA, N.Y. -- Utica College has announced the Pioneers' 2009 schedule for the upcoming women's water polo season.

Opening on March 7-8 at the Siena College Invitational, the Pioneers will look to capture their own tournament on March 14-15 before opening the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Northern Division schedule on March 15 at home versus Connecticut College. 

The team will then hit the road squaring off with Grove City College (March 27 at Gannon University), Penn State Erie-the Behrend College (March 27), Washington & Jefferson College (March 28 at Gannon), Salem International University (March 28 at Gannon) and Gannon (March 29). 

The Northern Division regular season will come to an end on the weekend of April 4-5 as the Pioneers will travel to take on Brown University and Hartwick College at Harvard University on the 4th, before moving onto Connecticut College for showdowns against the host Camels and Harvard on the 5th.

Utica, Brown, Hartwick, Harvard and Connecticut will conclude the division on April 18-19 at Connecticut for the Northern Division Championship in which the teams will battle for two guaranteed spots and the possibility of an at-large bid to the eight team Eastern Championship on April 24-26 at Harvard University.

If the Pioneers can qualify for Easterns and take the league championship, the team will conclude the season on May 8-10 at the NCAA Championship on the campus of the University of Maryland .
