CWPA Releases 2008 Men's Infractions Summary

Saint Francis College

At the 2008 Men’s Eastern Championship members of the Saint Francis Water Polo team violated the CWPA Code of Conduct with respect to behavior towards officials and sportsmanship. Based on both the recent actions and the past history of violations, the following action was determined:

Two athletes and two coaches are suspended from attending CWPA competition in any capacity throughout 2009. In addition, the Saint Francis College Men’s Water Polo Team will be suspended from all CWPA competition until at least December 31, 2009.

University of Pennsylvania

At the National Collegiate Club Championship and during the flight home members of the University of Pennsylvania Water Polo Club violated the CWPA Code of Conduct with respect to alcohol and conduct at the hotel. In light of these issues, the school administration has chosen to suspend the team from the opportunity to participate in the 2009 national championship. The CWPA endorses this action and further states that the club will be ineligible to participate in the division championship, based on the bracket format of the division championship and the fact that their involvement would unfairly jeopardize the opportunity for another team to qualify for the National Championship.
