Some of CWPA's Best to Meet at 2009 Elite 6 Tournament

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Some of the Collegiate Water Polo Association's best will meet for the Elite 6 Championship on Saturday, February 28-Sunday, March 1 in a possible preview of the 2009 Eastern Championhip.

Leading the field is defending Eastern Champion the University of Michigan as the Wolverines will be looking to pick up key wins that could impact which teams make the 2009 Eastern field.  With two selections for the Eastern Championship allocated to each of the CWPA's divisions (South, West, North) champions and runner-ups, any wins over another team in contention for the championship could either set up a team for the league championship tournament with one of two at-large bids allocated by committee after the conclusion of the divisional championships, or doom a team from making the postseason.

Hartwick College, which finished second at the Eastern Championship in 2008 to Michigan, the University of Maryland, Harvard University, Princeton University and the host Bison of Bucknell University round out the field as all six will be looking to knock off their opponents and strengthen their bids for at-large bids to the postseason, if needed.
