It's Unanimous: USC, Pomona-Pitzer & Michigan Rank No. 1 in February 4 Women's Varsity Polls

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Another week, another No. 1 ranking for the University of Southern California, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges and the University of Michigan as the trio topped the Women's Varsity Top 20, Division III Top 10 and Collegiate Water Polo Association Top 10 polls as unanimous No.1 selections. 

In the Varsity Top 20 poll, USC resumed its position as a the unanimous No. 1 team in the nation as the Trojans garnered 100 points to outdistance runner-ups Stanford University (95 points) and the University of California-Los Angeles (90 points).

Overall, the poll saw insignificant change in the Top 11 as the only change was San Diego State University moving up one place to tie the University of California for fifth place.

The biggest changes occurred in the last 10 positions of the poll as Hartwick College, which ranked No. 12 last week, slipped back to No. 14 allowing the University of California-Irvine and California State University-Northridge, which were tied for No. 13 last week,  to tie at No. 12 in the February 4 balloting.  California State University-Bakersfield and Long Beach State University tied for No. 15, while Princeton University held down No. 17 for another week.

Indiana University and the University of California-San Diego exchanged positions with the Hoosier moving up to No. 18, while the University of California-Santa Barbara held firm at No. 20 to round out the Top 20 teams in the nation.

The Division III ranks saw only one change in the Top 10 this week as the University of Redlands moved up one place to overtake California State University-East Bay for the third spot behind Pomona_Pitzer Colleges and California Lutheran University.

Occidental College, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, Chapman College, the University fo California-Santa Cruz, Whittier College and the University of LaVerne round out the Top 10.

The Collegiate Water Polo Association Top 10 also experienced some change as Indiana University broke away from the University of Maryland to claim sole possession of fourth place in the poll.  The remaining teams remained the same with Michigan, Hartwick College and Princeton University holding down No. 1-3, while Brown University, Bucknell University, Harvard University, George Washington University and Gannon University remained at No. 6-10.
