Bucknell to Play Four Games at Princeton Invitational on February 21-22
LEWISBURG, Pa. – After playing just three games in a 26-day span, the Bucknell women’s water polo team has a busy weekend ahead at the Princeton Invitational. The Bison will play four games at the two-day event, facing Wagner, Brown, Marist and Harvard. This is the second time in three weeks Bucknell will travel to Princeton’s DeNunzio Pool as it played there two weeks ago as part of the Princeton Open.

Bucknell Notes
• Bucknell is coming off a 13-9 CWPA Southern Division
loss to Maryland. The Bison trailed by just one goal entering the
fourth quarter and they played the entire second half without
senior captain Aubrey Rowe, who was whistled for three first-half
ejections.
• Bucknell will face No. 20 Brown and three other unranked
teams this weekend. The Bison are 3-1 against unranked foes this
year, but are 0-3 opposite ranked opponents. All three losses to
ranked foes are against teams that were ranked in the top 10.
• Bucknell has not lost more than two consecutive games since
March of 2007.
• Bucknell’s four games this weekend will have starting
times within 24 hours of each other. The first contest (Saturday
vs. Wagner) begins at 3 p.m., while the final one is Sunday at 2:20
p.m. (vs. Harvard).
• Freshman Amanda Skonezney has won 16 of 25 sprints this
year. Canonica led the Bison with 17 sprints won last year.
• Rowe, Canonica and Skonezney are the only three Bison to
start all seven games this year. Rowe has started 48 consecutive
games, while Canonica has earned a starting assignment in all 43
games during her two-year career.
• Kandis Canonica, who is second on the team in scoring with
21 points, netted a career-high four goals against Maryland. It was
the third time she has scored four goals in a game this season.
• Bucknell second-year head coach John Abdou has been a part
of 95 victories during his time on the Bison sidelines as head
coach and assistant coach of both the women’s and men’s
water polo programs. He is 29-14 as the head coach of the
women’s program.

Wolverines are No. 11 in the latest national poll, while the Hawks
stand at No. 15.
