Final 2008 National Men's Water Polo Statistics Released

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The final National Men's Water Polo Statistics were released by the Wagner University Sports Information Office with Collegiate Water Polo Association members among the nation's best for the 2008 season.

In scoring, 12 of the Top 25 scorers play in the CWPA as Iona College's Joe Przekota (2nd , 88 goals in 34 games, 2.59 gpg), Bucknell University's Richie Hyden (4th, 87 goals in 32 games, 2.72 gpg), 

Johns Hopkins University's Peter Davis (11th, 68 goals in 26 games, 2.62 gpg) and Josh Kratz (22nd, 60 goals in 33 games, 1.82 gpg), George Washington University's Nick Eddy (15th, 66 goals in 31 games, 2.13 gpg), Mercyhurst College's Alex Moggridge (18th, 63 goals in 23 games, 2.74 gpg) and Andrew Schonhoff (25th, 58 goals in 25 games, 2.32 gpg), Brown University's Mike Gartner (17th, 63 goals in 29 games, 2.17 gpg), Grant LeBeau (21st, 61 goals in 29 games, 2.10 gpg) and Gordon Hood (24th, 58 goals in 29 games, 2.00 gpg), Saint Francis College's Nemanja Pucarevic (19th, 62 goals in 23 games, 2.70 gpg) and the United States Naval Academy's Mike Mulvey (20th, 62 goals in 31 games, 2.00 gpg) rank at the top of the national rankings.

On the other side of the tank, 10 of the nation's 25 best goalies play on the East Coast as Washington & Jefferson College's John Todd (1st, 340 saves in 27 games, 12.59 spg), Johns Hopkins University's Chris Hutchens (4th, 292 saves in 28 games, 10.43 spg), Mercyhurst College's Andy Sekulski (6th, 266 saves in 25 games, 10.64 gpg), the United States Naval Academy's Brett Rajchel (11th, 249 saves in 31 games, 8.03 spg), Fordham University's Timmy Will (12th, 244 saves in 24 games, 10.17 spg), Iona College's Eric Konzem (13th, 244 saves in 32 games, 7.63 spg), Gannon University's Darren Stone (17th, 237 saves in 21 games, 11.29 spg), Princeton University's Mike Merlone (18th, 233 saves in 23 games, 10.13 spg), George Washington University's Alex Sotolongo (19th, 228 saves in 29 games, 7.86 spg) and Bucknell University's Nick Donahue (22nd, 213 saves in 32 games, 6.66 spg) rank in the national statistics.

In the team rankings, Saint Francis College led the nation in team offense (287 goals in 23 games, 12.48 gpg), while Johns Hopkins University (9th, 351 goals in 33 games, 10.64 gpg), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (10th, 231 goals in 22 games, 10.50 gpg), Brown University (11th, 304 goals in 29 games, 10.48 gpg), Iona College (13th, 351 goals in 34 games, 10.32 gpg), the United States Naval Academy (15th, 319 goals in 31 games, 10.29 gpg), Princeton University (17th, 291 goals in 29 games, 10.03 gpg), Mercyhurst College (20th, 248 goals in 25 games, 9.92 gpg), Fordham University (21st, 247 goals in 25 games, 9.88 gpg) and Bucknell University (23rd, 317 goals in 33 games, 9.61 gpg) round out the CWPA representation in the Top 25.

On defense, the CWPA is also represented as Saint Francis College (3rd, 164 goals in 23 games, 7.13 gpg), Mercyhurst College (7th, 198 goals in 25 games, 7.92 gpg), the United States Naval Academy (9th, 251 goals in 31 games, 8.10 gpg), Bucknell University (20th, 300 goals in 33 games, 9.09 gpg), Princeton University (21st, 265 goals in 29 games, 9.14 gpg) and Fordham University (23rd, 236 goals in 25 games, 9.44 gpg) rank among the nation's Top 25 teams in fewest goals allowed.
