U.S. Air Force Academy's Katie Gorbacz Named April 6 Southwest Division Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Sophomore Katie Gorbacz of the United States Air Force Academy totaled 12 goals, nine steals, 14 ejections-drawn and two five-meter penalty shots during the Southwest Division Championship Tournament to earn the April 6 division Player of the Week award and lead the Lady Falcons to the title game.

Overall, she led her team to a 3-1 record as Air Force knocked off University of New Mexico (12-2 W) and University of Colorado at Boulder (6-5 W) advancing to the semi-finals.  In the semis, the Falcons handled Northern Arizona University (14-9 W) before falling to No. 11-nationally ranked University of Arizona (15-4 L) in the title game.

The title game appearance marked the first for Air Force since the 2006 season as the Lady Falcons have appeared in three of the last five Southwest Division title games (2005, 2006, 2009).
