Hartwick's Shannon Leonard Named April 6 Northern Division Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Shannon Leonard (Fr., Montreal, Quebec/John Rennie) of Hartwick College scored two goals, dished out 10 assists and swiped 13 steals to earn the April 6 Northern Division Rookie of the Week award and lead the No. 12-nationally ranked Hawks to a 3-1 record.

Hartwick, which finished the Northern Division regular season with a 5-1 mark, also clinched the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Northern Division Championship on April 18-19 last week.

Against Brown University in an 8-7 OT loss, she recorded two assists and a team-best four steals as the Hawks saw their 92-0 Northern Division win-streak, including a 62-0 mark in regular season play, snapped by the Bears.

Versus Connecticut College, she recorded a goal, three assists and five steals, in addition to making one save in a period between the pipes, to aid the Hawks in a 16-3 win.

She added three assists and three steals in a 16-6 win over Harvard University and capped her week with a goal, two helpers and a steal in a 17-3 triumph over Utica College.

The Rookie of the Week award marks the second-time Leonard has been honored by the CWPA as she previously garnered accolades on March 23.
