Hartwick's Sian Ellis-Tewhiu Named April 27 Northern Division Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Hartwick College first-year Sian Ellis-Tewhiu (Fr., Wellington, New Zealand/Queen Margaret College) scored 11 goals and handed out an assist in a 2-1 week for the No. 14-ranked Hawks at the 2009 Eastern Championship to earn the April 27 Northern Division Rookie of the Week award.

She scored a game-high five markers in the quarterfinals as the Hawks beat Harvard University 16-3 before adding three goals in a 10-6 semifinal victory over No. 19 Brown University. 

Ellis-Tewhiu closed out the Eastern Championship with another hat-trick as the Hawks fell to the No. 12-ranked Wolverines 12-6.

The award marks her third Rookie of the Week nod this year as she previously earned the award on March 2 and 16.
