David Tune & Jay Connolly Named 2008 Harvard Men's Team Captains
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.
-- Seniors David Tune (San Rafael, Calif./Terra
Linda) and Jay Connolly (Pacific Palisades,
Calif./Harvard-Westlake) have been named men's water polo
captains for the upcoming 2008 season, head coach Erik Farrar
announced Thursday.
Tune scored 17 goals a year ago and added 13 assists, 12 kickouts
drawn and 17 steals while leading the Crimson with 22 ejections and
eight blocks. He has also succeeded in the classroom, having been
named to the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) and
Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Men’s
All-Academic teams.
Connolly, an All-Northern Division first-team goalkeeper, finished
second in the nation with 312 saves in 2007. A CWPA and ACWPC
Academic All-America selection, Connolly reached double figures in
saves on 19 occasions last fall and had 15 or more saves eight
times.
The pair combined to help lead Harvard to third-place at the Northern Division Championship and a fourth-place finish at the Eastern Championship last season.
