The tournament is not seeded by ability, since there is no equitable means to determine the respective strength of the teams. Too few teams play outside of their division schedules to be able to create an accurate seeding. Position are therefore awarded according to last year's results by division. The Host's division receives two automatic bids, one of which is assumed by the division champion and the other by the host site or division runner-up (the 8th position). This assures the tournament host is always a participant.

Because the North Atlantic Division did not participate in 2005, they are placed in the seventh position. For a complete explanation of this process, see the appropriate section in the Championship Handbook.

* Because Trinity University forfeited all of their games in 2006, the best finishing division from 2005 receives a second bid. For 2006, this division is the New York Division.

Game 1 – Wesleyan University vs. Macalester College

Macalester College's Elad Rachevsky scored six of his team's eight goals, but Wesleyan University used scoring from seven different players, including five goals by John Haley, to outlast Macalester 14-8 in the opening game of the 2006 National Collegiate Club Division III National Championship hosted by Wesleyan.

The Cardinals jumped out to an early 3-0 lead as Ben Byers, Haley and Mike Pepi scored at 5:18, 4:41 and 2:37, respectively, in the first period. Macalester trimmed the lead back to two scores at the 5:25 mark of the second period as Rachevsky ripped a shot into the twine. Wesleyan pushed the lead back to three as Byers netted his second score of the game at 4:53. The Fighting Scots moved back to within a pair of goals at 4:15 as Rachevsky scored an advantage goal after Wesleyan's Jeff Stein was ejected. However, the Cardinals flew back out to a three goal margin as Ryan Beck beat his defender and fired a shot inside the near post for a 5-2 advantage with 2:19 left in the first half.

The teams traded goals to open the third period as Rachevsky scored at 6:07 and Haley netted his second goal of the game at 5:37 for a 6-3 Wesleyan lead. The margin grew to 8-3 over the next two minutes as Matt Donne and Pepi found the back of the cage at 4:22 and 3:31, respectively. The Scots responded with a pair of scores as Rachevsky scored at 3:31 and added an advantage goal at 1:55 to put this team back to within three goals of tying the game. Wesleyan countered with a goal by Haley with 44 seconds left in the period, but Macalester's Diego Ponce drilled a shot into the lower left of the cage with 19 seconds left in the period for a 9-6 Wesleyan lead entering the final period.

The Cardinals put the game away, however, as Wesleyan scored five straight goals to start the period and take a 14-6 lead with 1:02 left on the game clock before Macalester tacked on a pair of goals in the final 36 seconds for the 14-8 final.

Macalester will play at 3:15 versus Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, while Wesleyan will meet RPI at 6:15 p.m.

Game 2 – New York University vs. Tufts University

Tufts University used a six goal spurt in the fourth period while holding New York University without a score as the Jumbos rallied from a two goal deficit to knock off the Bobcats 10-6 in the opening round of the 2006 Division III National Championship at Wesleyan University.

Tied 1-1 after the first period of play, NYU jumped out to a 3-1 lead with 1:49 left in the second period on a pair of exclusion goals as John Barnett scored his second goal of the game at 6:00 and Brett Garrison found the back of the cage at the 1:49 mark. Tufts sliced the margin to a goal by halftime as Matthew Burke ripped in a blast 29 seconds after Garrison's score for a 3-2 game at the break.

Tufts tied the game with 5:33 left in the third as Georgakakos netted his second goal of the game. The teams traded goals as Barnett scored at 4:21 before Georgakakos answered at 3:54 to keep the game tied at 4-4. NYU retook the advantage in the final two minutes of play in the period as Barnett fired a shot which eluded the goalie and Thomas Eason loosed a shot which went into the upper right corner of the cage with 21 seconds left for a 6-4 lead.

The Jumbos rampaged in the fourth period, however, as Matthew Burke netted an exclusion score at 6:09 to open Tufts comeback. Georgakakos tied the score with 5:10 left on the game clock before Ben Mitchell tallied the game-winner at the 4:17 mark. Mitchell added an insurance goal at the 3:40 mark before Eli Hackel collected a pair of steals and converted them into goals at 2:51 and 1:58 for the 10-6 final.

In goal, Hayden Reich recorded five saves to earn the win as Tufts advances to play the winner of the Lindenwood University-Grove City College game at 7:30 p.m.

Game 3 – Lindenwood University vs. Grove City College

Danilo Lazarevic scored 10 goals as the Lindenwood University Lions handled Grove City College 15-5 in the first round of the 2006 Division III National Championship at Wesleyan University.

The game appeared tight in the opening minutes as Lazarevic scored for the Lions at the 5:34 mark and Grove City's Caleb Courage found the back of the cage at 4:14. However, Lindenwood sealed the victory quickly scoring the next seven goals to take an 8-1 lead with 4:33 left in the second period as the Lions roared out to a 9-2 advantage by halftime.

The lead expanded to 12-3 at the 3:08 mark of the third period before Grove City attempted a rally as the Wolverines clawed their way back to within 12-5 on goals by Jeff Wenger and Jason Amos at 2:40 of the third period and 6:31 of the fourth period, respectively.

Lindenwood closed out the game with a three goal spurt in the final six minutes of play as Lazarevic scored at 6:05 and 5:18, and Andre Lucki tacked on a goal at 3:01 for the 10 goal victory.

In goal, Larry Stream recorded 11 saves for the Lions, while Tom Strode added two saves in four minutes of relief. For Grove City, Jeremy Harbaugh stopped seven shots.

Game 4 – Rensselear Polytechnic Institute vs. Macalester College

Macalester College opened a 10-1 first period lead as the Fightin' Scots rolled to a 19-4 win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at the 2006 Division III National Championship hosted by Wesleyan University.

For Macalester, Elad Rachevsky led the way scoring seven goals, including six in the first half, as the Scots built a 14-3 halftime advantage on their way to advancing to finishing second in Bracket A and facing the loser of a game between Tufts University and Lindenwood University for third place at 11:15 on Sunday, November 5.

RPI will next be in action at 6:15 pm as the Red Hawks will take on Wesleyan University.

Game 5 – New York University vs. Grove City College

John Barnett, Brett Garrison and Adam Miller scored pairs of goals as New York University outscored Grove City College 5-3 in the second half for the winning margin as the Bobcats downed the Wolverines 7-5 at the 2006 National Collegiate Clubs Division III Tournament hosted by Wesleyan University.

The Bobcats trailed just once in the game as Grove City's Ben Burkley scored an exclusion goal with 2:37 left in the first period to give the Wolverines a narrow 2-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.

NYU responded before halftime as Miller shook his defender and buried a shot into the cage for a 2-2 tie at the break,

Following halftime, the Bobcats came out with new life as Garrison scored at the 6:32 mark for a 3-2 lead, but Grove City tied the game 42 seconds later as Caleb Courage scored at 5:50 to knot the game at 3-3. The next two goals belonged to NYU as Garrison and Barnett scored at 4:00 and 1:24, respectively, for a 5-3 lead.

However, Grove City countered as Jason Amos scored with 1:00 left in the third period and Courage tacked on a score with 5:53 left on the game clock in the fourth period to even the score at 5-5.

But the final three minutes belonged to the Purple and White as Miller put home the game-winner with 3:07 to play and Jeff Fine added an insurance goal with 1:40 on the clock for the 7-5 final score.

In goal, Adam Esperza earned the win making five saves, while Jeremy Harbaugh took the loss for Grove City making four saves before being relieved by Peter Larsen who added a pair of stops.

Game 6 – Wesleyan University vs. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Mike Molina and Micah Siegel-Wallace combined on a shutout as Wesleyan University, the 2004 and 2005 National Division III Club Champions, will defend their title and look for a three-peat as the Cardinals blanked Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 11-0 in the semifinals of the 2006 National Collegiate Club Championships hosted by Wesleyan.

The Cardinals took the lead with 6:29 left in the first period and never looked back as John Haley found the back of the cage with a blast for a 1-0 lead. The margin grew to 4-0 before the end of the first period as Matt Brownstein, Jeff Stein and Erich Klothen added goals at 2:49, 2:03 and 00:16, respectively.

RPI was able to stagnate the Wesleyan offense for awhile in the second period, but the Cardinals broke loose for a pair of goals before halftime as Tom Lovett and Siegel-Wallace put home scores for a 6-0 advantage with a half to play.

Wesleyan added some more insurance in the third period as Steve Ranney, Molina and Stein scored before Andrew Jaycox and Brownstein closed out the game with goals in the fourth period for the 11-0 final.

In goal, Molina made one save to earn the win, while Siegel-Wallace stopped three shots. For RPI, Sean Cunningham made 11 saves in the loss.

Wesleyan will play the winner of the Tufts University-Lindenwood University semifinal for the 2006 Division III title at 12:40 on Sunday, November 5. RPI will continue the tournament at 10:00 a.m. on November 5 versus New York University before closing out tournament play at 2:00 p.m. versus Grove City College.

Game 7 – Tufts University vs. Lindenwood University

Danilo Lazarevic scored six goals as the Lindenwood University Lions downed Tufts University 11-5 to advance to a showdown with Wesleyan University in the title game of the 2006 National Collegiate Club Division III Championship.

The Lions never trailed in the game as Lindenwood jumped out to a 3-0 lead behind goals by Pat McCreary, Lazarevic and Claudio Mermelstein. Tufts trimmed the lead to two goals at 3-1 as Peter Georgakakos tallied a goal on a penalty shot with 29 seconds left in the first half, but Lindenwood answered back immediately as Andre Lucki netted an exclusion goal with eight ticks left on the clock for a 4-1 lead at the break.

Lindenwood roared out to a 7-2 lead by the end of the third period behind three goals by Lazarevic, while Tufts picked up a score by Matthew Miller.

In the fourth, the Jumbos attempted a comeback pulling to within 9-4 with 2:50 to play, but Lazarevic scored at the 2:34 mark and McCreary added another score with 1:44 to play for an 11-4 lead as the Lions rolled into the title tilt courtesy the six goal win.

In goal, Larry Stream made three saves to earn the win for Lindenwood, while Hayden Reich took the loss for Tufts while making four saves.

Tufts will continue the tournament at 11:15 a.m. on November 5 versus Macalester College in the third place game, while Lindenwood and Wesleyan will meet at 12:40 p.m. in the title game.

Game 8 – Rensselaer Polytechinc Institute vs. New York University

New York University used a seven goal outburst in the first period to take the lead for good as the Bobcats defeated Rensselear Polytechnic Institute 14-0 at the 2006 National Collegiate Club Division III Championship hosted by Wesleyan University.

NYU jumped on the board quickly scoring at 6:43, 6:06, 5:23 and 4:39 for a 4-0 lead before adding tallies at 2:59, 2:19 and 00:13 for the seven goal lead.

New York University added to the lead before halftime as the team scored at 5:09, 4:30 and 3:03 of the second period before tacking on the squad's 11th goal with 26 seconds left in the first half.

RPI was able to slow the NYU offense in the second half allowing a pair of scores by Ben Bierwirth, including a penalty shot, and a solo goal by Devin Wheeler.

Overall, Bierwirth and Wheeler led the way for the Bobcats as each recorded hat-tricks, while Adam Esperza, Jeff Fine and Jason Spindler chipped in pairs of goals.

With the win, NYU clinches fifth place in the tournament, while RPI will face Grove City College at 2:00 p.m. on November 5 to determine which team finsihes sixth and seventh for the championship.

Game 9 – Macalester College vs. Tufts University

Elad Rachevsky and Tyson Morgan scored hat-tricks for Macalester College, but Tufts University received scoring from five different players as the Jumbos outlasted the Figthin' Scots 7-6 to place third at the 2006 National Collegiate Club Division III Championship hosted by Wesleyan University.

Tied 3-3 at halftime, Macalester took the advantage as Rachevsky buried a blast from outside at 3:48 to go ahead before converting on a penalty shot at 3:10 for a 5-3 lead. Tufts answered back in the final minutes of play in the third period as Ben Mitchell shook his defender and unleashed a shot which eluded Macalester goalie Murat Ilgen for an exclusion goal to pull the Jumbos back to within 5-4 at the 2:32 mark. Loren Austin evened the score 2:13 later as he placed a shot under the post for a 5-5 tie entering the fourth period.

Tufts went ahead to stay with 6:18 remaining in the fourth period as Peter Georgakakos netted his third goal of the game after putting in a pair in the first period for a 6-5 lead. Mattew Burke added the eventual game-winner with 1:44 left on the clock as he converted on an exclusion opportunity to push the lead to 7-5. With the clock ticking away, Macalester attempted to rally as Tyson Morgan recorded his third goal of the game with 42 seconds left on the clock, but the Tufts defense locked down and held on for the win.

In goal, Hayden Reich made four saves for Tufts to earn the win, while Ilgen took the loss while making three saves.

Game 10 – Wesleyan University vs. Lindenwood University

Danilo Lazarevic scored six goals, including his team's final four scores, to earn Most Valuable Player honors for the tournament and lead the Lindenwood University Lions to an 8-6 victory over host Wesleyan University in the title game of the 2006 National Collegiate Club Division III Championship game.

Tied 4-4 at halftime, Lazarevic took over the game scoring off a pass from Claudio Mermelstein with 1:16 left in the third period for the go ahead score and the first of his four straight tallies.

Wesleyan answered with 5:43 left in the fourth period to knot the game at 4-4 as Andrew Jaycox stuck a shot past Lindenwood goalie Larry Stream, but Lazarevic responded for the Lions whipping a backhand shot over his right shoulder and into the cage for a 5-4 lead. He added another scored at the 2:33 mark bouncing a shot off the water and past Cardinals' goalie Mike Molina before closing out his six goal day by pushing the advantage out to 8-5 with 55 seconds left on the clock.

The Cardinals attempted to rally in the final minute of play as John Haley put home a shot with 32 seconds to play, but the Lions' defense locked down and held the ball to run out the clock and take their first ever Division III title. In addition, the title ended Wesleyan's reign a top the Division III ranks as the Cardinals had won the 2004 and 2005 titles.

In the recent history of the Division III club championship, Wesleyan has been dominant as the Cardinals finished second in 2000, 2002 and 2003 before capturing back-to-back titles the last two years.

In goal, Stream and Molina finished with 11 and six saves, respectively.

Game 11– Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute vs. Grove City College

Grove City College received scoring from 14 different players, including pairs of goals by Jeff Wenger, Ben Leach, Lincoln Larsen, Matt Green, Chad Cressman and Caleb Courage, as the Wolverines defeated Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 20-1 to finish sixth at the 2006 National Collegiate Club Division III Championship hosted by Wesleyan University.

The Wolverines jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first period and never looked back as Grove City added two goals in the second period, five in the third and six in the fourth for the 19 goal win.

RPI broke up the shutout in the third period as Nikos Sgourmas fired a shot into the cage with 3:39 left in the period.

In goal, Jeremy Harbaugh and Peter Larsen combined for seven saves for Grove City, while Sean Cunningham stopped 11 shots for RPI as the Red Hawks placed seventh in the tournament field.
