Perimeter Play

Two Meter Defense

  • Ejections Over the Top (Example 1)-- Two meter defender comes over the top once and pushes down on the offensive player as he is attempting to get to the ball. On the second try, the referee calls the ejection even though the perimeter defense is sloughing back to steal the ball.

  • Ejections Over the Top (Example 2)-- Two meter defender comes over the top on the pass to set offense pushing down in the process. Two meter defender is ejected. Note the defense is crashing or sloughing back but the pass is good to set offense and the push down is obvious.

  • Ejections Over the Top (Example 3)-- Two meter defender positions well at beginning but once he settles in behind the set offense on the left shoulder his profile is low. Defender goes over the top and holds right arm of set offense. Notice the left hand of the set offense, he attempts to hook the left

  • Ejections Over the Top (Example 4)-- Positioning wrestling. Two meter establishes ball side. Notice the left hand of two meter offense (potential offensive) pull down on defender'ss left arm. However, defense has low profile and is totally wrapped around two meter offensive player. Ejection is inevitable.

  • Defense Ball-Side Positioning No Foul (Example 1) -- Clean ballside positioning by the two meter defender. As the ball moves around the perimeter the defender continues to re-position ultimately intercepting a pass to the set position.

  • Defense Ball-Side Positioning No Foul (Example 2) -- Two meter defender plays the left shoulder and gives the two meter offense an oportunity to turn into the goal for a shot attempt. Notice the left hand grab by the offense to pull down the extending arm of the defender to enhance his position. Could possibly be an offensive foul.

  • Defense Ball-Side Positioning No Foul (Example 3) -- Good two meter defensive positioning to close-out passing lane into two meter offense as the ball moves around the perimeter. Bad pass into two meter offense from the deep wing gets intercepted for a turnover.

  • Steal - No Foul -- Good initial position by the two meter defender on the left shoulder of the set offense. Note the body is in excellent position with the legs providing good support. Defender is able to slip over the top as the set offense makes a move into the defender. Notice offense tried to hokk arm of defender. No foul.

  • Turn Attempt - No Foul -- Two meter set offense is given the chance to put his hand on the ball and attempts a turn to goal. Defense steals the ball and there is no foul (hand is on the ball).
  • Counter Attack - Inside Water No Foul -- Inside water gained on counter attack. Defensers hand to elbow foils shot attempt from behind. Goal throw counter and goal scored at other end one on goalie.

Two Meter Offense

  • Quick Hook/Sweep Shot Attempt -- Shows perimeter passing to set-up a pass into two meter offense from the right side. Two meter offense executes a quick right hand hook/sweep shot attempt right at the horn ending period.

  • Inside Water Backhand Goal

  • Pivot to Back Shot Attempt -- Two meter defender has frontside position. The offensive set cleanly pivots to his back to recieve a pass from the right wing area and attempts to shoot the ball on goal.

  • Turns Defense Shot on Goal -- Two meter offense makes a clean turn toward the goal with hand on the ball. Defnder once beat reacts with two hands up to show no holding and allows the goalie and crashing defenders to do their jobs. Shot attempt is blocked by goalie.

  • Offensive Holding -- Two meter offense attempts to hook the left arm and shoulder of the defender to gain an offensive advantage. Offensive turnover.

  • Counter Attack - Inside Water Crossover Backhand Attempt -- Counter attack with offensive player driving down the middle with ballside positioning relative to a deep outside release. Recieves a wet pass and moves enough ahead of his defender to obtain inside water. Hand goes to the ball and he executes a cross-over drive to a backhand attempt on goal. Offenses hand stays in contact with the ball throughout technique.

  • Suit Grab - Exposure
