10-13 Brian Badala,
Georgetown University
Georgetown is tied for the
lead in the Atlantic Division after winning its first four games of
the season this past weekend. The Hoyas were led by freshman Brian Badala’s
16 goals. Brian is a player to look for in the future as he can play
both the two-meter set and two-meter defense positions.

Player of the Week
9-28 Pat Lowman,
Grand Valley State University
Pat Lowman helped lead #3
ranked Grand Valley
State University
to a sweep in conference play over the weekend.
Lowman was perfect shooting the ball in the regional, as he went
eight for eight. He also helped
dish out five assists to his teammates.
His biggest contribution was on the defensive end as he was used
as a two-meter defender. Pat’s
brilliant play was not lost on the pollsters who moved the Lakers up
two places to #3 from #5.

Player of the Week
10-19
Dave Lawson, Iowa State University
Dave Lawson helped lead Iowa
State to four victories by allowing only 15 goals in 15 quarters. Lawson
was rock solid in the net. In being able to control and not just stop
many of these shots, he helped pace the Cyclones scoring attack by helping
them to break out fast. Dave allowed only three goals to last years
Great Plains Champion the University of South Dakota.
Heartland
Division Player of the Week
9-28 Elad Rachevsky,
Macalester College
Macalester
Sophomore Elad Rachevsky
helped lead the team to a 2-2 record this week by scoring an amazing
17 goals. He caused all kinds of havoc for his opponents
as he dished out ten assists and drew eight ejections. On the defensive side of the ball he helped
create opportunities for his team, as he finished with 16 steals for
the weekend.
10-13 Murat Ilgen,
Macalester College
Macalester was led by the
impressive play of their sophomore goalkeeper Murat Ilgen. Ilgen, who
is from Istanbul Turkey, recorded 24 saves in nine quarters of play.
He also helped pace the offensive side of the ball by recording four
steals and two assists.

Atlantic Division Player of the Week
9-21 Rob Mida, Villanova
University
Rob Mida led the Wildcats
to their first win of the season over Lehigh University with a four
-goal performance. Mida tallied one-third of the teams' total enroute
to a 12-5 victory. In addition to leading the offense, he also had two
steals.
9-28 Mike Gordon, Villanova University
Captain Mike Gordon was instrumental
in the Wildcats getting to the finals of the 20th Annual Wildcat Invitational
this past weekend. In four games, Gordon tallied 10 goals including
four against California State University, Maritime Academy. He also
drew 14 ejections, many of which Villanova converted. Gordon was more
than a goal scorer, as he posted 13 assists to help his team’s offense.
On the defensive side, he earned 11 steals and was only ejected four
times, despite guarding two-meters throughout the tournament.
10-5-05
Tom Hallett, Villanova University
Tom Hallett had an outstanding
weekend of games, helping the Wildcats earn three wins out of four games
at the Eastern Challenge. Against Army, Hallett had 11 saves, three
steals, and allowed only four goals in the first three quarters before
leaving the game to back-up goalie Matt Lancos. Against #4 Yale University,
Hallett posted an incredible 15 saves and allowed only five goals in
the 8-5 victory. Against the varsity program, Queens College, he earned
15 saves and two steals enroute to his only loss of the weekend, as
Villanova fell 16-17. However, he bounced back against division rival
Penn State, winning 9-8 in overtime on the strength of seven saves and
two steals.

Brad Hartman, Penn State University
Brad Hartman led the Nittany
Lions to a 4-0 record this past weekend at Penn State. Hartman was a
key contributor for the Lions as he scored nine goals in three games
(one win was by forfeit). Providing much needed senior leadership, he
not only raised the level of play from his teammates, he was a force
on the defensive end of the pool, helping limit Penn States’ opponents
to just twelve goals.
Missouri
Valley Division Player of the Week
9-21 Patrick McCreary,
Lindenwood University
McCreary scored over five
goals per game in three of the four contests this past weekend to help
Lindenwood to an undefeated record thus far. Against Washington University
he tallied five, followed by a six goal performance against Western
Illinois. In the Northern Illinois game he demonstrated his versatility
by scoring five goals while playing in the field and then earned seven
saves playing in the cage during the fourth quarter.
10-20 Larry Stream,
Lindenwood University
Larry Stream helped lead
Lindenwood to a 4-0 sweep in the Missouri Valley Division. In four games,
Stream, who is also the team captain, let up just 21 goals and made
17 saves. In addition to his work in the cage, in the second half of
the game against Northern Illinois, Stream scored six goals, recorded
two steals, and set up two more goals for an outstanding performance
by the senior.

Atlantic Division Player of the Week
10-19
Drew Wenzel, Dartmouth College
Dartmouth finished out the
weekend with a 4-0 record. Their biggest win was an 8-7 victory against
the North Atlantics top ranked Middlebury College. This was a
great team effort, but was was led by the great goal keeping
of Drew Wenzel. In the 8-7 win over Middlebury College, Drew stopped
a four-meter penalty shot.

Player of the Week

Jon Ashford, University of Oregon
With the 19th
ranked Ducks undermanned this week, the younger players on the team
were led by Senior Jon Ashford. In the biggest win of the weekend for the Ducks,
Ashford scored the game-winning goal with just four seconds remaining
in Sudden Death Overtime against UC Davis.
The game winning shot was a backhander which beat two UC Davis
defenders.
10-13 Kjiel Carlson,
University of Washington
Kjiel
Carlson was a force to be reckoned with for University of Washington,
as he knocked in 15 goals in four games this past weekend. Likewise,
Carlson was such an offensive presence that he was able to draw 17 kickouts
as well.

Coast Division Player of the Week
10-13 Chris Sherman,
UCLA
UCLA
finished the weekend 4-0 with some help from the spectacular play of
1st year utility man Chris Sherman. Chris Sherman tied for the team
lead with six goals. The Bruins defeated #8 ranked Fresno State thanks
to Sherman contributing three of his six goals.

Jordan Hill, Georgia Tech
Jordan Hill was a dominating
force in the net as Georgia Tech took down the University of Tennessee,
University of Alabama and Clemson University. The team also received
a forfeit win over Emory putting them at 4-0 in the regional and 5-3
overall. In the three games that were played Jordan let in only 15 goals.
This is all the more surprising though when you consider he was a field
player until recently. It was the spectacular play in net that helped
his team to a perfect weekend.

Division Player of the Week
10-13 Clint Stevenson,
University of Utah
Clint led
the University of Utah by netting 13 goals over the four games they
played this past weekend. Clints biggest game came when he scored three
penalty shots against rival University of Colorado. The 4-0 record by
Utah put their final record at 7-1 going into the Southwest championship
where Clint will try and lead the Utes to a rematch with division leading
University of Arizona.

Division Player of the Week
9-21
Nick Hambley, Rice University
Nick led Rice
University out of the gates with a 3-1 record in the Texas Division
Opener. The sophomore led the team by scoring 22 goals for the weekend.
Rice defeated Texas A&M, Baylor, and the University of Houston.
In each of these three games he scored at least four goals. In the one
loss to the University of Texas, Nick scored five of the teams eight
goals.

Nina Babakhina, University of Richmond
Senior two-meter
set Nina Babakhina had an outstanding weekend at the Atlantic Division
regional, scoring 13 goals and adding 5 assists in leading the Spiders
to a 2-2 record on the weekend. Babakhina recorded goals in each of
the Spiders' games including Va Tech (6), JMU (3), UVA (1), and UNC
(3). She also drew 11 kickouts, and contributed on the defensive end
with 10 steals.
Heartland
Division Player of the Week

Jackie DeLuca, Macalester College
Macalester's
Jackie DeLuca (sophmore, New Preston, CT) had another great tournament
for the Scots netting 10 goals and adding 10 assists, 3 steals and 9
ejections drawn in the Heartland Division Championship. DeLuca now has
81 goals, 37 assists and 109 ejections drawn on the season.

Michelle Johnson, Wheaton College
Junior Michelle
Johnson (Anaheim, CA) led Wheaton College with 21 goals in six games
at the Carthage College Invite. The team went 6-0 on the weekend, including
victories over fellow Division III varsity schools Macalester College
(9-1) and Grove City College (8-0). Wheaton enters the upcoming Heartland
Division tournament as the top seed, with a 4-0 regular season record.

Jackie DeLuca led Maclaester's offensive attack against nationally-ranked
Cal Lutheran with 3 goals, 3 ejections drawn and one steal in a 9-4
loss.

Macalester's Jackie DeLuca (SO New Preston, CT) had a stellar weekend
at the Claremont Colleges Tournament scoring 10 goals, drawing 12 ejections
and adding 2 steal and 2 assists against nationally-ranked Whittier,
Occidental and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

Elena Bulat, Macalester College
Macalester
sophomore goalkeeper Elena Bulat (Madison, WI) recorded 42 saves and
had 5 steals and 2 assists to help the Scots go 3-1 in the season opening
tournament. Ten of her saves came on man-down situations and she was
one for one in stopping four-meter penalty throws.

Division Player of the Week

Corey Ulmer, Miami University (OH)
At the Midwest
Division Championship, Corey scored 13 goals, 6 assists and 5 steals
in helping Miami advance to its third consecutive Midwest Championship.
She controlled the two-meter set and drew double teaming defense during
the championship game against Notre Dame. The defense was not enough
as Corey scored five times during the 10-6 victory over the Fighting
Irish.

Hillary Robnick, Miami University (OH)
Hillary Robnick
received the All-Tournament Goalie MVP award at the Miami University
Women's Water Polo Classic this past weekend. Playing 3 of 4 games against
teams ranking in the nation's Top 20, she gave up only 15 goals and
made 32 saves. She also contributed with 8 steals in front of the cage
and dominated the Miami opponents.

Lauren Stiebler, Miami University (OH)
At the University
of Wisconsin, Badger Invitational, Miami sent only 10 players of a combined
"A"/"B" squad to play against some of the top teams
Big Ten teams. At this event, Lauren displayed excellent game sense
and awareness as she played very well in the cage for the Redhawks.
She had a total of 30 blocks, 12 of which were against Illinois in a
semi-final game, scored twice from the goal against both Northwestern
and Wisconsin, and swept the ball away from opposing offensive players
8 times. This season, a starter on the Miami "B" team and
a sophomore, Lauren makes it apparent that the goalie duties for Miami
will be well accounted for more seasons to come.

Carmen Younger, Miami University (OH)
At the Wildcat
Invitational, hosted by Northwestern University, Carmen scored 11 goals
and had 11 steals, including 2 goals and 3 steals in the RedHawks' 7-5
victory in the championship game over Michigan State. Her leadership
and determination were key factors in all of the games played in the
tournament, which led to Miami winning the event.

Casey Younger, Miami University (OH)
At the Florida
State University Sweetheart Invitational, Casey Younger was elected
to the First All-Tournament team and received the honor as Defensive
Most Valuable Player of the event. She recorded 14 steals, 7 goals,
7 assists, and drew 4 ejections. Her play helped lead Miami to win the
tournament title with victories over Florida in the semi-final by a
score of 7-2 and over Florida State in the championship game by a score
of 11-6.

Hillary Robnick, Miami University (OH)
Goaltender
Hillary Robnick was dominating in the cage during the CWPA Eastern Regional
at Ohio University, allowing just 2 goals in 3 games. She registered
2 shutouts and had 16 blocks as the RedHawks secured the top seed at
the division championship.

Kelly Cameron, Dartmouth College
Kelly Cameron
led the way for Dartmouth College at the New England Division regional
tournament at Yale University this weekend. In four wins for the Big
Green, Kelly scored a total of 12 goals, four of which came against
9th ranked Yale, helping Dartmouth to a convincing 11-6 win.

Elizabeth Donald, Cornell University
Liz Donald,
a senior and team captain, lead Cornell to 4 wins this weekend with
her strong work in two-meters, outstanding and consistent shooting,
and solid defense. She averaged nearly four goals per game, but her
smart defense was what ensured victories for the Big Red.

Cory Lee, Cornell University
Freshman
Cory Lee led the Red to their first ever wins against Colgate University
and New York University and a perfect 4-0 record on the weekend. She
averaged nearly 10 steals and 4 goals per game, dominating both in two-meter
offense and defense.

Kelly Cavazos, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Goalie Kelly
Cavazos led the Engineers with a strong performance in the cage, as
MIT completed an undefeated regular season in the North Atlantic Division.
Cavazos averaged 8 saves per contest and posted a goals against average
of 2.50 over the course of the weekend. MIT enters the division championship,
which it will host on April 16-17, as the top seed.

Jeanie Ward-Waller, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Graduate
student Jeanie Ward-Waller's stellar defensive play led MIT to a perfect
4-0 record in the first weekend of competition in the North Atlantic
Division. Ward-Waller also
contributed 6 goals to the Engineers' cause, as MIT secured first place
in the division.

3-10 Elizabeth Jenkins,
California Poly State University
Goalie Elizabeth Jenkins keyed Cal Poly to a 4-0 record at
UC Davis this past weekend, limiting the Mustang opponents to just 12
goals over the course of the weekend. In just her second year with the
team, Jenkins continues to improve upon her performance in 2004, when
she helped lead the team to a National Championship. With the Mustangs
on the road for the past three weekends, Jenkins' intensity and determination
to do her best, has helped carry Poly to success.

Division Player of the Week

Lynnsey Justice, Florida State University
Florida State
University freshman, Lynnsey Justice (Winter Park, FL), was instrumental
in helping the Seminoles advance to only their second ever appearance
in the Southeast Division Championship Game. Lynnsey was a key component
of the Seminoles offense, with poise far beyond that of a freshman.
Justice's weekend was highlighted by an outstanding performance in the
semifinals against the No. 17 Emory Eagles. Justice dazzled the crowd
and teammates alike with a full court buzzer beater to give the Seminoles
a 4-3 lead going into halftime. Justice led all scorers with 3 goals.
In the championship game, Lynnsey again showed uncanny composure for
a freshman, helping the team chip away at a four-goal lead to pull within
one. She accounted for 8 steals and an assist in the Seminoles' losing
effort.

Billie Duncan, Florida State University
The outstanding
play this past weekend of Florida State University freshman goaltender,
Billie Duncan (Ft. Lauderdale, FL), helped the Seminoles earn the #2
seed at next week's Southeast Division Championship. Billie anchored
the Seminoles defense by allowing just 13 goals on the weekend. Duncan's
weekend was highlighted by several dazzling saves against the #14 Emory
Eagles. The Seminoles entered the game needing a big win to secure the
#2 seed at the Division championships and Duncan helped to deliver this
win by posting shutout in the the third period while also tallying 4
steals and 2 long assists. She was instrumental in turning a 3-3 halftime
deadlock into a 10-5 rout, before exiting the pool and has contributed
heavily to the Seminoles 15-5 record this season.

Erika Horn, Florida State University
Florida State
University junior, Erika Horn (Miami, FL), was named the Tournament
Most Valuable Offensive Player and was selected to the All-Tournament
team after a dominating performance this past weekend at the 2005 Sweetheart
invitational hosted at Florida State University. She led the Seminoles
in scoring with 15 goals, and also drew 17 ejections over the weekend.
Erika opened the tournament in rousing fashion scoring 6 goals in a
14-3 win agaisnt the University of Richmond. She followed that up with
a stellar performance against #13 Arizona with 3 more goals in an 8-3
win. Erika had an outstanding performance in the semifinals agaisnt
league rival #18 Emory, she scored 3 goals and dished out 2 assists
in a 9-4 win over the Eagles . She was instrumental in turning a 4-3
halftime lead into a 9-4 rout. In the championship game against #7 Miami,
she posted another 3 goals despite facing a constant drop. Erika has
contributed heavily to the Seminoles 7-1 record this season including
a 2-1 mark against ranked opponents.

Rebecca Cassell, Florida State University
Florida State
University senior, Rebecca "Becky" Cassell (Tallahassee, FL),
was named the tournament Most Valuable Player after a dominating performance
this past weekend at the 2005 Gasparilla invitational hosted at University
of South Florida. She led the Seminoles in scoring with 15 goals, and
was second on the team in steals with 9, contributing heavily to the
Seminoles 4-0 start to the season. Becky had an outstanding defensive
performance in the semifinals agaisnt host team USF, while also chipping
in 4 goals. She was instrumental in turning a 5-4 halftime lead into
a 14-6 rout. Cassell closed the tournament with a career day, in the
championship game against James Madison University, she posted a career
high 7 goals. She scored 5 consecutive goals during a 9-2 run that propelled
the Seminoles from a 2-3 first quarter deficit to an 11-5 final. The
#11 Seminoles are now 4-0 on the season.

Division Player of the Week

Jess Schumer, Rice University
Jess Schumer,
senior at Rice University, lead the Owls to another victorious weekend
at the Texas Division Regionals. Schumer tallied 11 goals, 11 steals,
7 assists, and 14 drawn ejections as Rice increased its undefeated win
streak to 12 games. Schumer showed her versatility by splitting responsibilities
at two-meter offense, defense, and attacker position throughout the
weekend. The Owls dominated the tournament by scoring 63 goals while
only allowing 13 goals.
